More...We conducted a greenhouse experiment of microplastic addition to soil mesocoms in bulk soil or the rhizosphere of spring onion, using six microplastic types (polyester -fibers-, polyamide -beads-, and four fragment types: polyethylene, polyester terephthalate, polypropylene, and polystyrene). We used Illumina sequencing of 16S, ITS and 18S amplicons to provide the first multi-taxa assessment of the effect of microplastics on soil bacterial, archaeal, fungal, and cercozoan biodiversity.
