(Submitter supplied) Background: Prior analyses of mRNA expression in intestinal tissue as related to HIV cohorts has been on whole biopsies. More targeted isolation and enrichment of intestinal epithelial cells is needed to identify pathways specifically altered in the epithelium that may not be picked up at a global tissue scale.
