SAGE analysis of cardiac fibroblasts isolated from adult mouse heart

(Submitter supplied) Cardiac fibroblasts were isolated from 3-month old C57BL/6 mice. RNA was prepared from quiescent, serum-starved cardiac fibroblasts in passage 15. A total number of 118654 tags was sequenced. After removal of duplicate ditags and linker-derived sequences 110169 tags remained.

NO2 study

(Submitter supplied) NO effects on gene expression, independent of cGMP, were examined globally. Differentiated human U937 cells that lack soluble guanylate cyclase were exposed to Snitrosoglutathione, a NO donor, or glutathione without or with dibutyryl-cAMP (Bt2cAMP). Nitric oxide effect on soluble guanylate cyclase deficient cells

Analysis of soluble guanylate cyclase-deficient U937 cells exposed to the nitric oxide (NO) donor S-nitrosoglutathione. Cells treated in the presence of dibutyryl-cAMP (Bt2cAMP) to block signaling due to NO-induced decreases in cAMP. Results provide insight into the cGMP-independent effects of NO.

Ocular fibroblast types differ in their mRNA profiles - implications for fibrosis prevention after aqueous shunt implantation

(Submitter supplied) Surgical glaucoma therapy is characterized by implantation of an aqueous shunt either draining into the extraocular Tenon’s space or the intraocular suprachoroidal space. In both cases the long term drainage is hampered by fibrotic reactions around the outflow region of the shunt. The prevention of fibrosis should extend the operating life of the shunt. For an aqueous shunt draining from the anterior chamber into the choroidal space fibroblasts from the choroidea and/or the sclera are most likely responsible for a fibrotic response around the outflow region of such a shunt. more...
