Expression data of mice cochlea treated with L-methionine and valproic acid.

(Submitter supplied) Treatment of DBA/2J mice with a combination of L-methionine and valproic acid significantly attenuated progressive hearing loss. We examined gene expression in the whole cochlea of the mice. This study was aimed to detect genes of which change in expression levels were associated with attenuation of progressive hearing loss in the mice.

Gene expression profile of the age-related hearing loss cochlea in DBA/2J mice

(Submitter supplied) Age-related hearing loss (AHL) is the progressive loss of auditory function with aging. The DBA/2J (DBA) mice have been used as a model of AHL and undergoes progressive, age-related hearing loss by 12 weeks of age. Here we analyzed cochlear gene expression of 7-week-old and 36-week-old DBA mice using microarrays. Auditory brainstem response (ABR) analysis confrimed that severe age-related hearing loss occured in 36-week-old mice, whereas moderate hearing loss occured in 7-week-old mice. more...

Age-related hearing loss model: cochlea

Analysis of cochleas of 7 and 36 week old DBA/2J animals. The DBA/2J animal suffers from age-related hearing loss (AHL), a progressive disease characterized by an age-associated loss of hair cells and spiral ganglion cells in the cochlea. Results provide insight into the molecular basis of AHL.

Expression data from Igf-1 -/- and Igf-1+/+ mouse cochleas

(Submitter supplied) Different mutations in the gene encoding humans IGF-I cause intrauterine growth retardation, postnatal growth failure, microcephaly, mental retardation, bilateral sensorineural deafness and multiple dysmorphic features. Insight into the role of IGFs in inner ear cochlear ganglion neurogenesis has come from the study of genetically modified mice. Postnatal cochlear development is severely impaired in mice Igf1-/-, which develop smaller cochlea and cochlear ganglia, an immature tectorial membrane and they display a significant decrease in the number and size of auditory neurons. more...

Microarray Analysis of Retinal Gene Expression in the DBA/2J Model of Glaucoma

(Submitter supplied) Purpose: The DBA/2J mouse is a model for secondary angle-closure glaucoma due to iris atrophy and pigment dispersion, which ultimately leads to increased intraocular pressure (IOP). We sought to correlate changes in retinal gene expression with glaucoma-like pathology by performing microarray analysis of retinal RNA from DBA/2J mice at 3 months before disease onset, and at 8 months, after IOP elevation. more...

DBA/2J model of glaucoma: retina

Analysis of retinas from strain DBA/2J with elevated intraocular pressure (IOP). A model for glaucoma, DBA/2J has mutations that lead to iris atrophy and pigment dispersion. These conditions result in increased IOP. Results provide insight into the molecular changes associated with IOP elevation.

Expression data from MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cell lines exposed to DMSO control and UF010

(Submitter supplied) Breast cancer cell line MDA-MB-231 was treated with DMSO or UF010, a novel HDAC inhibitor for 24 hours. The impact of UF010 treatment on global gene expression was determined. We used Affymetrix Human Transcriptome Array 2.0 (HTA-2_0) to analyze genes that were up or downregulated upon UF010 exposure.

Expression data from rice roots treated with Gln

(Submitter supplied) We used GeneChip Rice Genome Array (Affymetrix, Santa Clara, CA, USA) to identify genes that were rapidly induced by glutamine in rice roots. Transcriptomic analysis of rice roots revealed that the expression of at least 35 genes involved in metabolism, transport, signal transduction, and stress responses was rapidly induced by glutamine within 30 minutes.

Altered expression of genes in WDR5 knockdown

(Submitter supplied) WDR5 (WD repeat domain 5) plays an important role in the epigenetic regulation of gene transcription, involing in regulation of embryonic stem cell and cancer cell.Bladder cancer is one of the most common cancers that cause approximately 150,000 deaths per year worldwide. The goal of this study is to identify the target genes of WDR5 in bladder cancer. Our results inditcate that the genes regulated by WDR5 involved in a variety of biological functions, such as proliferation and anti-apoptosis.

Expression data in HeLa cells treated with CENP-E siRNA or Eg5 siRNA in the presence of BubR1 siRNA

(Submitter supplied) The molecular mechanism responsible for cell fate after mitotic slippage is unclear. We investigate the postmitotic effects of different mitotic aberrations, misaligned chromosomes produced by CENP-E siRNA (siCENP-E), and monopolar spindles resulting from Eg5 siRNA (siEg5). To determine which signaling pathways contribute to the postmitotic effect of siCENP-E in the presence of siBubR1 (siCENP-E+siBubR1) compared with siEg5+siBubR1, we performed a comprehensive gene expression analysis by microarray comparisons. more...

Comparison of the Transcriptional Profiles of Melanocytes from Dark and Light Skinned Individuals under Basal Conditions and Following Ultraviolet-B Irradiation

(Submitter supplied) We analysed the whole-genome transcriptional profile of 6 cell lines of dark melanocytes (DM) and 6 of light melanocytes (LM) at basal conditions and after UVB at different time points (6, 12 and 24h) to investigate the mechanisms by which melanocytes protect human skin from the damaging effects of ultraviolet-B radiation (UVB). Further, we assessed the effect of different keratinocyte-conditioned media (KCM+ and KCM-) on melanocytes.
