Title Effect of Disease and Exercise in Skeletal Muscle of Patients with Peripheral Artery Disease
Organism Homo sapiens
Experiment type Expression profiling by array
Summary PAD is associated with reduced uptake of glucose and insulin resistance in skeletal muscle. In this study, we look at the effect of exercise on gene expression in patients with PAD.

Overall design Two types of patients were recruited for this study: patients with peripheral arterial disease (PAD) and healthy patients without the disease. Healthy patients were measured only once. PAD patients were measured twice: once at baseline, then a second time after each patient was randomly administered one of two treatments, exercise or control. The age of healthy patients was also recorded, as greater than or less than 50 year of age.
