Title A cancer stem cell hierarchy based on differential ribosomal RNA and protein synthesis capacities [POLR1A]
Organism Homo sapiens
Experiment type Expression profiling by array
Summary Ribosomal RNA (rRNA) transcription and protein synthesis are heterogeneously regulated in colorectal tumors and are gradually shut down during cell differentiation. Cancer stem cell hierarchy and tumor growth is defined by a tumor cell population that displays elevated rRNA and protein synthesis.

Overall design Tumor cells expressing different levels of POLR1A were isolated from subcutaneous patient derived xenografts
