Title Placebo-controlled, randomized clinical trial with repeated liver biopsies: Long-term resveratrol treatment has no clear therapeutic benefit in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease
Organism Homo sapiens
Experiment type Expression profiling by array
Summary Resveratrol treatment has shown beneficial effects on experimental models of non-alcoholic liver disease (NAFLD). In this pilot-size, clinical trial we teated the therapeutic potential in NAFLD patients.
We found only limited clinical effect of resveratrol treatment.

Overall design Prospective, placebo-controlled, randomized clinical trial with two treatment arms: resveratrol 1.5 g daily (RSV) or placebo (Plc) for 6 months. Participants had baseline and end-of-trial biopsies performed.
