Title An integrative map of transcriptional responses to exercise in non-muscle organs
Organism Mus musculus
Experiment type Expression profiling by array
Summary Global gene expression was measured with Affymetrix in seven organs after 3 weeks swimming and control (non swimming) C57BL6 male mice, 14wks old ( by the end of the study).
We used microarrays to detail the global programme of gene expression indicative of adaptatie changes occuring in seven tissues, skeletal muscle (quadricepts), liver, kidney, subcutaneous and visceral white adipose tissues, spleen, brain, after 3 weeks of swimming

Overall design C57Bl/6 mice, 11-12 weeks old were acclimated to the swimming protocol by daily swim sessions, which gradually increased by 10 min over the course of 9 days. After the acclimatization period, the mice were made to swim for 3 weeks, twice per day, for 90 min, with 4 hours rest between the sessions. The first swimming session was at 9AM and the second at 3PM
