Treatment protocol Cultures for samples 1 and 2 were incubated at 44°C for 45 min after growth.
Growth protocol All cultures grown up to 0.6 OD600 with shaking at 200 rpm. Samples 1,2,5 and 6 were grown at 30°C whereas samples 3 and 4 were grown at 37°C.

Extraction protocol Total RNA was isolated as desribed in Kime et al., 2008
