Gender: Male, Age: 72, Glomeruli isolated from the unaffected pole of a kidney with renal cell carcinoma. Histological examination (H&E) of the portion of kidney used for sample isolation showed normal glomeruli. Purity of glomeruli was > 95%.

Glomeruli were isolated by differential sieving using ice-cold phosphate buffered saline. Pure glomeruli were placed directly into "RNA-protect" (QIAGEN) and total RNA was isolated with RNeasy (QIAGEN). 4.2 µg total RNA was used for mRNA isolation using oligo-dT affinity support.
