Growth protocol Rainbow trouts were reared at constant water temperature (17 to 18°C) under natural photoperiod conditions (French National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA) experimental fish farm, Donzacq, Landes, France).
Extracted molecule total RNA
Extraction protocol The anterior intestine was isolated from 8 animals. Total RNA were extracted from the intestines using the WIZTM RNA isolation reagent (Ambion, France).
 
Description 30 micrograms of total RNAs of the pool of 8 animals were used to generate the long-SAGE library using the I-SAGE Long kit (Invitrogen, Cergy Pointoise, France).
Data processing SAGE-tag extraction, counting and quality control were undertaken by Skuld-Tech (Montpellier, France, http://www.skuldtech.com)
