We obtained six specimens from overflowing AV fistulae and four from normal control cephalic veins. Surgical specimens were cut into 0.5-cm cubes or smaller and stored in RNA later (Ambion, Austin, TX) overnight at 4 ± 3℃, then stored at –80℃ until RNA extraction.
