Data processing Matrix non-normalized was generated by calculating mean of CT values for each gene including housekeeping gene, GAPDH, for all the patients with SARS-CoV2 as well as all the healthy controls recruited in the study. Matrix normalized was generated by subtratcing the mean Ct value of GAPDH from the gene of interest (GOI). This yielded two normalized integers set, (mean CT GOI in patients with SARS-CoV2 -mean CT housekeeping gene, GAPDH, in patients with SARS-CoV2) and (Mean Ct GOI healthy controls - mean Ct housekeeping gene, GAPDH, in healthy controls). These normalised values were referred to as delta Ct values. Delta delta Ct values for each GOI were calculated by subtracting delta ct in SARS-CoV2 patient - delta Ct value in healthy controls. Fold change of GOI was calculated by 2 (to the power delta delta Ct) for each gene.
