Comparison of novel proteomic expression profiles for radiation exposure in male and female C57BL6 mice

(Submitter supplied) Purpose: There is a need for point-of-care diagnostics for future mass casualty events involving radiation exposure. The development of radiation exposure and dose prediction algorithms for biodosimetry is needed for screening of large populations during these scenarios, and exploration of the potential effects which sex, age, genetic heterogeneity, and physiological comorbidities may have on the utility of biodosimetry diagnostics is needed. more...

Serological autoantibody profiling of emmetropic controls and highly myopic patiens

(Submitter supplied) High myopia is a leading cause of blindness worldwide, among which pathologic myopia, characterized by typical myopic macular degeneration, is the most detrimental. However, its pathogenesis remains largely unknown. By using a protein microarray assaying more than 20,000 human proteins, we determined in this study the autoantibody profiles of highly myopic patiens and emmetropic controls.

An epigenetic gene signature underlies phenotype switching in early stage melanomas [RPPA]

(Submitter supplied) A 122-epigenetic gene signature distinguished low- versus high-risk early stage melanomas. We sought to validate the signature, examined clinical correlates in a cohort of primary melanomas of the skin, and studied the underlying transcriptomic aberrations and changes in chromatin in cell lines representing these two groups.

Spatial immuno-oncology protein abundance profiles in hepatocellular carcinoma tissues from patients treated with bavituximab and pembrolizumab

(Submitter supplied) Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) targeting PD-1/L1 have modest efficacy in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) as single agents, but combination regimens have demonstrated increased clinical benefit at the expense of treatment toxicities. Exposed phosphatidylserine suppresses the innate immune response in the tumor microenvironment (TME). Targeting phosphatidylserine does not induce tumor responses in the clinical setting when used as monotherapy or in combination with cytotoxic and targeted therapies, but may induce pro-inflammatory and –immune stimulating effects that enhance ICI activity. more...

Deep phenotyping of Post-infectious Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome [Protein plasma]

(Submitter supplied) Myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) is a disabling disorder that may occur following an infection, yet the clinical phenotype is poorly defined, the pathophysiology is unknown, and no disease-modifying treatments are available. We used rigorous criteria to recruit a cohort of post-infectious ME/CFS (PI-ME/CFS) volunteers (n=17) with matched healthy controls (n=21) to conduct deep clinical and biological phenotyping using an extensive battery of tests. more...

Nucleos(t)ide analogs for hepatitis B virus infection differentially regulate the growth factor signaling in hepatocytes

(Submitter supplied) Recent clinical studies have suggested that the risk of developing hepatocellular carcinoma might be lower in chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients receiving tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) than in patients receiving entecavir (ETV), although there is no difference in biochemical and virological remission between two drugs. The effects of nucleoside analogs (NsAs; lamivudine and ETV) or nucleotide analogs (NtAs; adefovir disoproxil [ADV], TDF, and tenofovir alafenamide [TAF]) on cell growth and the expression of growth signaling molecules were investigated. more...
